Frequently Asked Questions
What is credit repair?
Credit repair reviews credit reports, identifies inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable information, and uses rights under federal law, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act, to dispute those items with bureaus and data furnishers. Results vary by file and creditor response.
How do credit disputes work?
We help organize reports, spot items that may be inaccurate or unverifiable, and prepare and track disputes with bureaus and, when appropriate, furnishers. They may correct, delete, or verify an item. You retain the right to dispute on your own.
How long does credit repair take?
Timelines depend on your file and response times. Many clients see movement over a few billing cycles; meaningful cleanup often takes several months. Complex items can take longer. We do not quote a guaranteed score jump or fixed completion date.
What can The Capitol Repair not promise?
We cannot promise a specific score, deletion of every negative item, loan approval, or funding. Accurate negative information may remain. Anyone guaranteeing overnight fixes is overselling.
How do fees work, and what should I know about CROA?
Under the Credit Repair Organizations Act, companies generally may not charge until services are fully performed. Ask for a clear written agreement explaining services, fees, and payment timing. We explain fees up front and never pressure you with guaranteed results.
What rights do I have under the FCRA?
The Fair Credit Reporting Act provides rights to accurate reporting, free annual reports, and disputes of inaccurate or incomplete information. Bureaus and furnishers must investigate complete disputes within required timeframes.
Do you serve clients nationwide, or only in Texas?
Nationwide. Our Texas HQ in Clute is our home base, but we work with clients across all 50 states. You can start online from anywhere in the United States.
Is business credit the same as consumer credit?
No. Consumer reports track personal credit. Business credit often has separate commercial files, trade references, and scoring models. Building one does not automatically build the other.
Who is a good fit?
People with inaccurate, outdated, or unverifiable items; those wanting structured dispute support; or anyone seeking clarity before housing, auto, or business financing. If reports are accurate and you want a quick boost, repair may not be the right tool.
